Video Features

4K security monitoring

At the center of this security camera is a cutting edge 8.51 MP image sensor. This sensor is capable of recording 4K video, which is especially important for security camera footage. 4K footage will ultimately provide you with the best chance to capture useable evidence should an incident ever occur. (It is important to note that this 4K security camera does not require a 4K television or monitor for use. The additional resolution will simply be there for you should you need to review key events.)

Over 8 million pixels

This 4K resolution security camera contains 4× the amount of pixels as a 1080p security camera. Instead of recording at a pixel ratio of 1920 × 1080 (a total of 2,073,600 pixels), this 4K camera can record at a pixel ratio of 3840 x 2160 (a total of 8,294,400 pixels). The higher amount of pixels offered by a 4K security camera allows for much better digital enhancing. So when you spot something in your footage that you need to zoom in on, specific details, such as a person's facial features, will remain distinguishable for longer as you zoom in further and further.

Infrared Night Vision

See further into the dark than ever before. Nocturnal security cameras come with high powered infrared LEDs that flood the scene in front of the camera with infrared lighting. Invisible to the naked eye, but not to the camera, this infrared lighting will allow your security camera to see in complete darkness.

Color Night Vision (CNV™)

Add external lights around your nocturnal security camera to utilize our revolutionary Color Night Vision technology. With CNV, you'll be able to capture a whole new level of details, such as the color of a car or the color of a person's clothes, which may prove invaluable if needed for evidence.

Sony Exmor R™ CMOS sensor

The image sensor at the core of this camera is not your typical image sensor. It is an incredibly sophisticated Sony Exmor R™ image sensor. This sensor uses back illuminated pixel technology for exceptional low light performance. The sensor also shields the video from excessive feedback and video noise by passing the signal through an analog noise reduction program before converting the video signal to digital. Afterwards, a secondary digital noise reduction filter is applied, allowing the image to remain crystal clear.

Back illuminated pixel technology

With a front illuminated image sensor, light energy (photons) would have to travel through a layer of metal wiring and transistors before reaching the image sensor's light sensitive area (photo-diode). These obstructions would diminish the amount of light that is ultimately captured. That's no longer the case with this camera's back illuminated image sensor. With this sensor, the light doesn't have to pass through that layer of wiring, which drastically improves the amount of light captured. This vastly enhances low-light performance and results in less digital noise to keep your security footage clean and clear.

eShutter™

This security camera automatically knows how to optimize the brightness of the video while minimizing motion blur thanks to its electronic shutter. An electronic shutter, as opposed to a mechanical shutter, does not rapidly open and shut with every picture (or frame). Instead, the image sensor accumulates light for a set amount of time (anywhere between 1/3 of a second to 1/100000 of a second), then resets (like the shutter closing) and gets ready for the next frame. In essence, a high shutter speed will provide the least amount of motion blur. However, a high shutter needs a lot of light, so finding the right balance can be difficult. Luckily, you don't have to worry about this, as the camera's eShutter™ figures it out for you.

Active mechanical lens filter

As evening fades into night, this security camera will automatically shift into infrared night mode. In fact, if you are close enough, you will be able to hear a noticeable click the moment this happens. This is the Active Mechanical Lens Filter, otherwise known as the IR Cut Filter, disengaging. Without it, UV and infrared rays would be allowed to enter the lens during the day, causing distortions and discoloration to the video. This filter also reduces the effects of atmospheric conditions such as haze, to create sharper images with more depth and finer, richer color gradation. When enough natural light enters the frame, the mechanical filter will automatically click back into position.

Real-time 30FPS recording rate

Choose to record 4K resolution at 15 FPS (frames-per-second) or record at a real-time 30 FPS rate at 2K (3MP) resolution. Recording at 30 FPS will provide you with exceptionally smooth on-screen movement and provide you with more frames to choose from when cycling through footage.

Enhanced security monitoring with HDR

This security camera uses HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology to ensure that you capture the most important details, regardless of lighting conditions. Dynamic range is measured as the difference between the brightest point and the darkest point of the video. HDR technology uses this difference to automatically adjust the picture's brightness, resulting in optimized, highly-detailed security video.

Increased clarity in low-light settings

This camera uses 3D-DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) technology to filter out digital noise from low-light scenes, as well as any noise caused by motion. By eliminating graininess, your camera provides a cleaner, more accurate image with better clarity, sharpness, and improved motion detection. It will also help reduces video file sizes as well, giving you greater disc space for storage.

Auto white balance

Colors must be reproduced authentically in your security camera footage for useable evidence. Thankfully, this security camera will automatically adjust the color settings so that white areas in real life will be reproduced as white in your footage. Having a proper white balance will then consequently ensure that all other colors will be accurate. This camera also offers presets and total white balance customization through the NVR as well. These can be used for additional levels of white balance control to suit your needs.

HEVC / H.265 compression

Keep the 4K footage without the 4K file sizes thanks to this camera's cutting-edge . HEVC stands for High Efficiency Video Compression (also known as H.265 or MPEG-H Part 2), and is used by the camera to compress video file sizes without any noticable difference in quality. Please note that an capable of receiving this type of compression is necessary to utilize this feature.

Camera Features

All-weather security camera

Mother Nature is no match for this security camera. Rated , it can endure anything from torrential downpours to freezing snowstorms. So go ahead and place this security camera where you need it most.

These Lorex security cameras have been rigorously tested in the most frigid conditions to ensure that they will continue to function even in extreme cold. Tested in temperatures as low as -22°F / -30°C, they are guaranteed to keep you secure, no matter what they endure.

Heavy duty metal housing

This housing of this security camera is built using high grade aluminum. This ensures that it is rugged enough to last for years and years, even if it is directly exposed to intense weather conditions.

Installation and Customization

Easy PoE installation

This security camera only needs a single Cat5e ethernet cable to connect it to a . This cable provides video transmission, power to the camera, a stable network connection, and installation flexibility up to 300ft* (as the camera does not need to be plugged into a nearby power source).

Regional motion zones

Use your NVR to program this camera with up to four different motion zones. These zones can be customized to adjust both the sensitivity (the amount of movement required to register that movement) and threshold (how much movement is required before creating a motion "event") of the camera. This means that more important areas, such as a doorway, can be highlighted so that any movement at all will trigger a recording (or create a motion event), while other sections of the frame, like a tree, would need a much higher level of motion.

Privacy masking

In some cases, there will be areas inside the camera's field of view that you simply do not want recorded. Things such as windows or perhaps your pool / hot tub, are good examples of this. Thankfully, you can use your NVR to literally mask out these sections by drawing a square or rectangle over the areas you don't want to record.

Custom video orientation

Don't worry about installing this camera the "right side up." In fact, there is no right side up. You can easily change the visual orientation with the NVR after installation. The video feed can be rotated 90°, 180°, and 270°. It can also be flipped upside down and mirrored.
